Shahid
Afridi was born on March 1, 1980 in Khyber Agency, Pakistan. He moved with his
family to Karachi and took up street cricket with a fiery passion. The Shadab
Cricket Club took him under its wing. There after he was selected for the under
19 category.
Being a flashy all
rounder, he stormed onto the International Cricket scene at the age of 16,
scoring the Fastest One-Day hundred in his maiden innings.
His memorable moments: A smashing century against India in 2005 in Kanpur.
Also, saving the home side level the series by jointly scoring the 2nd fastest
test half century at Banglore.
He is at his best when forcing straight and has considerably improved his
legspin performance. Strong arms and alert fielding round off the super stars
attributes.
Coach Bob Woolmer sums it all up rather pointed by saying “With player like
Afridi, it isn't so much about technique, as about goal-getting. I dont care
how you go about it, this is what I need from you today". In reply, the super
star says “Bob's excellent in that he keeps spirits up
